The anticipated demand for bitcoin is attributed to the launch of various spot ETFs in the U.S., an upcoming halving event in April 2024, and the overall expansion of stock markets due to rate cuts.

According to a report from on-chain analysis firm CryptoQuant, these factors could drive bitcoin prices to at least $50,000 in the short term. Historically, bitcoin has shown a tendency to rally following its halving events, which reduce the supply of new coins in circulation, and traders appear to be factoring in the potential impact of the upcoming event on the market.

The Next BONK? Solana Meme Coin Dogwifhat Pumps 2,000X in a Month (3 minute read)
In recent weeks, BONK, a Solana token inspired by the Shiba Inu meme, gained substantial momentum, dominating discussions within the crypto community and generating significant returns for its holders. Now, a new Solana meme coin, Dogwifhat (WIF), is gaining widespread attention by subtly innovating on the BONK aesthetic—this time, featuring a dog with a hat.

Since its launch over Thanksgiving week, Dogwifhat has experienced a remarkable surge, skyrocketing by an astonishing 227,000% in less than a month, going from a fraction of a penny to nearly $0.14 at the time of writing. Over the past 24 hours alone, the token has surged by 125%. The token's activity notably intensified after breaking the one-cent barrier last Monday, propelling it to a substantial market capitalization exceeding $135 million, with nearly $29 million in trading volume over the last 24 hours.

Bitcoin spot ETF approvals look 'nailed on' for January, K33 Research says (3 minute read)
The approval of spot bitcoin ETFs appears highly likely in January, as indicated by the latest K33 Research report, which suggests that application updates point to a cash-creation setup agreed upon by filers before the January 10 deadline.

BlackRock recently submitted an amended S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, introducing a new cash redemption model that aligns with SEC preferences, while still allowing for an "in-kind" process pending regulatory approval. Analysts speculate that BlackRock may prefer an in-kind redemption model for portfolio management flexibility, but the SEC seems to lean towards a cash model, requiring the immediate sale of bitcoin from storage and returning cash to investors upon redemption.

Bloomberg Intelligence ETF research analyst James Seyffart, emphasized a potential approval window between January 8 and 10, with a 90% chance according to his October assessment, coinciding with the final deadline for the Ark 21Shares application filed in April.

While Ethereum witnessed a relatively subdued performance in the recent crypto market rally, which was predominantly driven by Bitcoin, analysts are optimistic about potential bullish moves for ETH in 2024. Currently, Ethereum has retraced approximately 8% from its peak in 2023, and it has been overshadowed by Bitcoin and the anticipation of spot ETF launches.

Despite this, Ethereum's fundamentals remain robust, and the cryptocurrency has seen a significant uptrend, more than doubling in price since its cycle low of just under $1,000 in June 2022. Analysts foresee substantial bullish momentum for Ethereum in the coming year.

Hacker offers access to Binance law enforcement request panel, asks $10K in crypto (3 minute read)
On December 14, a user named "Miembro" posted on Breach Forums, offering to sell access to Binance's law enforcement request panel for $10,000 in Bitcoin. The advertised access claimed to provide exclusive entry utilized solely by law enforcement, allowing unlimited requests to be processed within three to seven days.

An investigation conducted by Hudson Rock researchers revealed that Binance employs a third-party service called Kodex to validate law enforcement requests. The compromised access is facilitated through credentials believed to belong to law enforcement officials, obtained through three computers infected by malware. The hackers subsequently gained possession of these compromised credentials, allowing unauthorized access to Binance's law enforcement request panel.
